This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it. Plain English where possible.
This website is operated by Lydia Heywood. Lydia is the data controller responsible for any personal information you submit through it.
When you fill in one of the contact forms on this site (the Get Involved, Speaking or Teaching enquiry forms), we collect the information you provide. Typically this is: your name, your email address, the organisation you are associated with (if you choose to share it), the option you selected from any drop-down, and the message you wrote.
We do not collect bank details, payment information, or any special category data through this site.
We collect this information for one reason only: so that Lydia and her team can read your enquiry and reply to you. We do not use it for marketing unless you have separately and explicitly agreed to that.
Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interest — specifically, responding to an enquiry you have voluntarily sent us.
We keep your enquiry for as long as it is useful for the purpose you sent it. In practice this means: while we are in active conversation with you, plus a reasonable period afterwards (typically up to two years) in case the conversation resumes. After that, we delete it.
Your enquiry is read by Lydia and a small number of people working directly with her. We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing. We may use standard tools to receive and store enquiries (email provider, contact form service), and those providers process your data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.
We will disclose information if we are legally required to do so.
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, and complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of the rights above, or to ask a question about this policy, please use the contact form on the Get Involved page. Select "Just want to chat" from the drop-down and write "Privacy request" at the start of your message. Lydia or her team will respond.
This site does not use tracking cookies or analytics that identify individual visitors. If that changes in future we will update this policy.
If we change how we handle data, we will update this page. The most recent update is shown below.
